What was your major/minor? Why did you choose it?
I chose human biology and French as my majors because they both reflect my passions. Human biology allows me to understand the human body deeply, while French indulges my love for the language, culture, and history. Mastering French isn't just about communication; it's about embracing a whole new way of thinking. Combining these majors lets me pursue my scientific interests while also diving into French culture. I believe this multidisciplinary background will open diverse career opportunities, from medicine to international relations.

What are you up to now?
Currently, I'm working as a medical assistant at a local clinic in SoCal, where I get to apply my knowledge of human biology in a practical setting. Additionally, I'm tutoring French online, sharing my passion for the language and culture with others. It's a fulfilling balance of both my majors and allows me to contribute to healthcare while also spreading the joy of learning French.

How did your experience at UC Davis prepare you for the next step in your professional journey?
Studying French at UC Davis sharpened my thinking and broadened my understanding of language and culture. It laid a strong groundwork for more learning and taught me how to communicate well, especially in teaching French.

What's your advice for someone considering your major?
If you're considering my major, I'd advise you to follow your passions and interests. Choose subjects that genuinely excite you and align with your career goals. Also, don't be afraid to explore different opportunities within your field through internships, research projects, or extracurricular activities. Finally, stay open-minded and flexible, as your interests and goals may evolve over time.

What was your favorite part of your undergraduate program here?
My favorite part of my undergraduate program was undoubtedly the opportunity to study abroad in Canada. Immersing myself in a bilingual environment allowed me to put my French language skills into practice in real-life situations. Whether I was conversing with locals, navigating daily life, or delving into academic discussions, using French became second nature. Connecting with Francophone communities, participating in cultural events, and forming friendships with native French speakers enriched my understanding of the language and its cultural nuances. Studying abroad in Canada not only improved my language proficiency but also broadened my cultural horizons, making it a transformative experience that deepened my love for the French language and the diverse Francophone world.

Do you have a professor or a class you want to shout out?
I want to express my gratitude to all the professors I had during my undergraduate program, but I particularly want to shout out Professor Warner and Professor Simon. Their passion for the language was palpable in every class, and their office hours provided amazing opportunities to delve deeper into their connection with the language and culture. I especially appreciated the creativity I could express in Professor Simon's course, where we explored French music and artists from the 90s to now. Thank you, professors, for your dedication and inspiration!

What were you involved in outside of class (clubs, internships, etc.)?
Outside of class, I was quite involved in extracurricular activities. I served as a peer tutor for three quarters, helping fellow students with their coursework.
